Ben McLeod is based in the English Lake District and his move towards greater emphasis on the landscape in his painting has been heavily influenced by the native landscape around him. Working predominantly in oils his work is a response to the environment reflecting his travels not just in and around Cumbria but beyond. Like a visual diary the thick impasto paint is a physical response to open spaces and the effects of ever changing weather on land and sea.

ST. BEES series - EXCLUSIVE launch
I have been working on a series of paintings from St. Bees - not too far from me - just further on the West Cumbrian coast. It's the start or finish of the 'Coast to Coast' walk popularised by Alfred Wainwright It was a misty morning that cleared as the day progressed These small paintings will be made available EXCLUSIVELY on my website on Thursday 1st June from 8am at a special price of only £135 each (this size being usually £385). There are now x10 of these. They are unframed at the moment having only just been finished... but will be double framed in hand-painted white scooped frame and soft grey slip
WINTER SUN & SUMMER EVENING series
I have been busy painting in the studio developing both a WINTER SUN & SUMMER EVENING series - inspired by walks in the grounds around my studio and evening walks through the valley. There are X10 of each, which are all now fully framed. A few of these paintings are shown here and the full series will be available soon to see on the website
As well as termly CLASSES there are PAINTING WORKSHOPS in July, August and September 2024: Closely guided tuition over X2 days with a chance to do some sketching and drawing in the plentiful space around the studio - and the following day to develop your studies into expressive paintings. 10-4pm each day
